Honourable mention

The Glasgow Arms Hotel

The pub in Ultimo, NSW, is the only location that isn’t a suburb or transport facility in the top 100 most viewed locations of 2024 — taking out the 17th spot on the list. Besides a change in leaseholder, it’s unclear why the venue would be of such interest to our customers, let alone break into the top 20.

15. Perth Airport, WA

This is Perth Airport’s debut in our list of top 15 searched locations — shooting up the rankings from the 26th spot on last year’s list.

14. Oran Park, NSW

As Oran Park remains a hot spot for sprawling residential development, it retains its spot as the 14th most viewed location by our MapBrowser users.

13. Adelaide, SA

After placing 7th in 2022 and 10th in 2023, Adelaide drops another three places to become the 13th most viewed location of 2024. If the trend continues, Adelaide will become one of the few major cities to not make the annual list in years to come.

12. Geelong, VIC

Victoria’s second lagest city has moved up a ranking in 2024 to take out the 12th spot on the most viewed locations list.

11. Newcastle, NSW

Interestingly, like Adelaide, Newcastle has dropped three places year-on-year since the 2022 — despite consistent population and developmental growth.

10. Kemps Creek, NSW

Neighbouring the new Western Sydney Airport development, and undergoing its own significant residential development boom, Kemps Creek continues to climb up our annual list of most viewed locations.

9. Canberra, ACT

Canberra has made a triumphant return to the top 10 of our list of most viewed locations — after the capital city fell to the 18th spot on our 2023 list.

8. Sydney International Airport, NSW

Australia’s busiest airport dropped only two places on this year’s list compared to 2023.

7. Townsville, QLD

For the first time this year, Townsville has moved up the rankings, coming in at ninth place on both our 2022 and 2023 lists of most viewed locations.

6. Brisbane International Airport, QLD

Brisbane International Airport jumped a whopping six places on the list this year. Will it crack the top five in 2025?

5. Perth, WA

Perth just manages to keep its spot in the top five, after coming in fourth place in both 2022 and 2023.

4. Sydney, NSW

As the battle for the title of the biggest city in Australia continues, Sydney has once again failed to overtake Melbourne on the list of the most viewed locations in Australia.

3. Melbourne, NSW

After holding the 2nd spot on the most viewed locations list for the last two years, a nearby location has bumped Melbourne down to number three on the list.

2. Melbourne Airport, VIC

Overtaking three of Australia’s major cities, Melbourne Airport has climbed up the list to claim the title of the 2nd most viewed location of 2024.

1. Brisbane, QLD

Brisbane is no stranger to the number one spot on this annual list. The most viewed location in 2022, 2023, and now 2024, will next year finally be the year the major city is knocked off the top spot?
These locations are only a small number of those which we cover in Australia. We now cover up to 95% of the population, over 100 urban and some remote areas across Australia.
*This list includes the locations that had the highest volume of searches in Nearmap MapBrowser between 1 Jan 2024, and 31 Oct 2024.
