“The frequent imagery updates from Nearmap were key to securing the project contract. Brazos County was also really impressed with both the quality of the imagery and the data.”

Doug Talbott, Field Project Representative, Quiddity

“Our communication and coordination with subcontractors and stakeholders greatly improved. Because we all worked from the same source, it helped reduce potential misunderstandings and streamline our project workflows.”

About Quiddity and the Inner Loop East project

Quiddity, a distinguished Texas, U.S. firm in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sector, is known for its innovative approach to complex projects. The firm spearheaded the proposal for the Inner Loop East project in Brazos County, Texas, a critical infrastructure initiative designed to enhance regional connectivity and support economic growth. The project demanded high precision and up-to-date geographic data, making the integration of advanced technological solutions essential.

The Challenge

Inaccurate data and high costs

The Inner Loop East project is not just another infrastructure task—it requires meticulous planning and execution due to its scale and the rapid development in Brazos County. Quiddity faced the challenge of:
  • High costs and inefficiencies: Traditional surveying and data collection methods—such as onsite inspections and drone surveys—cost considerable time and financial resources.
  • Old and inaccurate data: AEC firms are often forced to rely on outdated imagery and mapping data from public resources, resulting in costly design errors and project rework.
It was paramount Quiddity presented a proposal showcasing their engineering expertise and ability to handle and integrate precise, real-time data into their planning process. So, they sought a solution to enrich their proposal and secure the project contract.
“Much of the publicly available imagery sources are old, outdated, and unreliable. To present a strong proposal to Brazos County, we knew having recent, reliable imagery and data would be key factors.” – Doug Talbott, Field Project Representative, Quiddity

The Solution

Aerial intelligence

Nearmap provided accurate location intelligence with high-resolution and frequently updated aerial imagery. With Nearmap integrated into Quiddity’s workflows, they not only enhanced their site analysis for design and construction phases—they had the detailed and current geographical data essential for the project to:
  1. Visualise Current Conditions: Frequent imagery capture from Nearmap provided the most current state of the project area, ensuring all design and project decisions were based on the latest available data, thus reducing the risk of reworks.
  2. Streamline workflows: Nearmap vertical imagery was easily integrated into existing design and GIS platforms—such as Bentley OpenRoads, Autodesk CIvil3D, and Esri ArcGIS—enabling all project teams to access and work from a single source of ground truth.
  3. Enhance proposal quality: The visual and data-rich content from Nearmap made Quiddity’s proposal to Brazos County more compelling, clearly outlining the project’s feasibility and readiness throughout the project lifecycle.

Business Impact

Enhanced project proposals

The integration of Nearmap into Quiddity’s proposal and project workflows enabled the firm to:
  1. Reduce the time and resources required for the planning phase by eliminating the need for extensive field surveys and minimising rework. This efficiency translated into cost savings and a faster project initiation.
  2. Enable informed decision-making quickly by providing access to the most current and precise geographic data. This agility was crucial in meeting the project timelines and adapting to any changes in the project scope or external conditions.
  3. Deliver winning proposals and convincing power to clients and stakeholders. This advantage was pivotal in winning the multi-year Inner Loop East project contract with Brazos County, Texas. Additionally, it showcases Quiddity’s commitment to leveraging advanced technology for superior project outcomes.

“We’re promoting Nearmap internally and seeing more users across the company. It’s really been great for us. We’re excited to see what else we can do in the future.”
