Aug 2024

Nearmap Sync enables more efficient mapping analysis and visualization and provides a better user experience.

Aug 2024

All good things come to an end, and that is what is happening with ArcGIS Web AppBuilder. ArcGIS Web AppBuilder is scheduled for retirement and all three versions of Web AppBuilder will be retired by the end of 2025. Esri recommends migrating existing apps to ArcGIS Experience Builder. Because of this, Nearmap for ArcGIS Oblique Viewer needed a replacement.
The update is here and its name is Nearmap Sync.
With Nearmap Sync for ArcGIS Experience Builder, users can seamlessly integrate our high-resolution aerial imagery with their ArcGIS GIS web maps, displayed side by side within Experience Builder (note: this requires ArcGIS Enterprise 11.1 or later.)

Out with the old

Nearmap for ArcGIS Oblique Viewer required users to export our imagery and data before manually uploading those insights to their preferred mapping platform for analysis and visualization. This process is time-consuming, inefficient, and disrupts the day-to-day operations. These pain points resulted in a lesser user experience due to the level of technical expertise and effort needed.
The development of Nearmap Sync set out to solve these issues.

What is Nearmap Sync for ArcGIS Experience Builder?

Nearmap Sync automatically synchronizes maps in your ArcGIS Experience Builder with aerial imagery and location intelligence in MapBrowser when both applications are being viewed simultaneously. The solution provides access to high-resolution aerial imagery and data, unlocking the ability to use powerful MapBrowser features such as comparing imagery and overlaying AI data for insights into parcel or property attributes.

In with the new

Nearmap Sync improves on its predecessor by providing hassle-free maintenance. This means a constant connection to Nearmap imagery and data that automatically updates with every survey refresh. This removes the cost of data storage and the need for updates. Further, Nearmap Sync unifies web maps and interconnected data to create a single endpoint for location intelligence.

The features of Nearmap Sync for ArcGIS Experience Builder

Nearmap Sync embeds the MapBrowser experience directly into ArcGIS Experience Builder in ArcGIS Enterprise, either side-by-side or as a convenient pop-up. This synchronizes positioning between maps as users navigate, ensuring clarity.
Nearmap Sync allows GIS professionals and their end users to visualize and analyze our aerial imagery and geospatial data. This helps users perform workflows without the need for data conversion, mosaic-ing, or time-consuming export steps.

What can users do with Nearmap Sync?

  • Access all 2D and 3D content in MapBrowser
  • Utilize all the imagery in MapBrowser simultaneously within ArcGIS Experience Builder
  • Pan and zoom in on one map and automatically synchronize it in the other
Nearmap Sync users can create interactive web experiences with frequently captured high-resolution imagery, seamlessly integrate AI-derived insights, see city-scale 3D mesh, and customize for their specific needs.
This empowers users to make informed decisions faster and more effectively.

Nearmap Sync use cases

Public Works

Public Works departments seek to communicate infrastructure projects and maintenance plans to internal stakeholders in a clear and engaging way. Current methods often rely on static maps and reports, which can be difficult for residents to understand. Nearmap Sync allows Public Works departments to create interactive dashboards with high-resolution aerial imagery and allows internal users to zoom in and explore project details, track progress over time with frequent updates, and understand the impact on neighborhoods. This visual approach heightens project transparency and builds trust.

Department of Transportation

Transportation departments need to monitor the condition of roads, bridges, and other infrastructure assets. However, manual data transfer between platforms ruins the efficiency of infrastructure inspections. Using Nearmap Sync allows the department to access high-resolution aerial imagery and compare data on road maintenance schedules and project plans. And, AI layers can be leveraged to identify cracks or deterioration in infrastructure assets and streamline inspection workflows and prioritize repairs.

Emergency Management

Emergency managers need to communicate evacuation plans and real-time situational awareness effectively. However, distributing paper maps or relying on outdated aerial imagery can be slow and ineffective. Nearmap Sync allows Emergency Management to create interactive emergency preparedness maps with high-resolution aerial imagery. Internal users can access these maps to share evacuation routes, shelter locations, and provide real-time updates on weather conditions or disaster zones — improving public safety and preparedness during emergencies.
Nearmap Sync revolutionizes how users access and leverage our imagery and data by enabling automatic synchronization with Esri Experience Builder. This seamless integration is made possible through a one-time setup, providing quick and convenient access to leading location intelligence. This means saying goodbye to manual downloads and hello to efficient, synchronized geospatial workflows.
