“I wish I had the time to go into the Nearmap image library every single day; because each time I go on to view a property, I spot taxable properties right and left. Every single time I’m on there, I’m able to capture assessed value which equates to growth — it’s money we can collect in the next year. And I do it all from my desktop because I don’t have enough bodies to go outside.” Trisha Favulli - Director of Assessing

The City of Melrose, located seven miles north of Boston, Massachusetts, has undergone a massive change over the last few years. With a growing population of 30,000 people, it was important for valuation purposes that Melrose understood how its properties were growing and being developed. After the introduction of Nearmap, the physical assessment time per parcel was reduced from 30-40 minutes to 5-15 minutes — meaning that Melrose can assess as many as eight properties in the time it used to take them to do one.
“If I can validate 60% of the property data from my desk, it makes my time in the field a lot more productive and cost-effective.”
Chris Wilcock, Chief Assessor, Melrose, Massachusetts“Before we started using Nearmap, our property inspection process was very inefficient, using a grid system developed for Mylar mapping. It would take around 30-40 minutes to physically inspect every property — and we have 10,000 parcels of land to assess.”
